Cycling Shoes

Cycling shoes have become a relatively large part of the overall bicycling industry. Most of this growth has taken place over the last two decades, largely due to clipless pedals and their growth in popularity. Before these pedals came on the scene, “cycling” shoes were whatever you happened to be wearing, with a few exceptions.

Cycling shoes, like bicycles, are generally categorized as for either on-road or off-road use. Road shoes are often fairly low-profile in design in order to minimize drag and as a means of keeping the feet cool. Mountain bike shoes, on the other hand, are often designed to be more rugged.

Cycling shoes can also be found for certain weather conditions. Shoes designed for cold weather, warm weather, or all-condition styles can be found through most reputable bike shops. These can be found for both road cyclists and mountain bikers.
