Road Cycle

A road cycle is a bicycle that is specifically designed and intended for on-road use only. These bikes have been in existence for decades; much longer than mountain bikes. They are lightweight and designed to be ridden over long distances.

If you’ve ever watched a famous bike race such as the Tour de France, then you’ve undoubtedly seen a road cycle. They are typified by their ultra-skinny tires and wheels, lightweight frame design and uniquely curved handlebars. Depending on the design criteria, these bikes are often quite expensive.

A road cycle can be purchased through most bike shops. However, not all road bikes are made equally, and as such it might be necessary to do some research before laying down your hard earned money. Knowing what you want, need and can afford are all important aspects of purchasing a road bike.
